Alumni Message – Fall 2013

Bill with son Zane at Homecoming 2012CU Family and Friends,

HOMECOMING:  What does it mean to you?  Its definition states that homecoming is “the tradition of welcoming back alumni of a school; it usually includes activities for students and alumni such as sports and social events.”

Mark your calendar on October 11-12, 2013, for the best Homecoming weekend ever at Cumberland.  Why the best ever?  Because YOU will be there!  The weekend will begin with the annual Sports Hall of Fame Dinner, the always fun Alumni Party on the Patio, and special reunions for the Classes of 1963 and 1988. All of these events will lead up to tailgating before the football game versus Union College at Nokes-Lasater Field, where the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and announcement of the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients will occur.

I want to personally invite all alumni and friends back to campus for the 2013 CU Homecoming.  This campus is special to me, and to all alumni and students, because people made the effort years ago to build relationships and make it an exceptional university.  Cumberland didn’t happen by accident–it was created by leaders with a vision and mission.  I cannot think of a better time to return to this beautiful place, reunite with fellow alumni and faculty, and share your memories of college life.

This is my favorite time of year: late Summer, early Fall, filled with friends, fellowship, and football!  This is also an exciting time for our home: Cumberland University.

I look forward to seeing you there.

CU for Life.
