CU Becomes Provisional Member of G-MAC

Cumberland University was granted provisional membership in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) after a vote of league presidents, paving the way for the University to apply to the NCAA for admittance into Division II in February 2014.

Freeman Awarded SID of the Year

The TranSouth Athletic Conference sports information directors have named Cumberland University SID Jo Jo Freeman as the 2012 TranSouth Sports Information Director of the Year. The conference instituted the award in 2006 to recognize the efforts of sports information directors in promoting the teams of the TranSouth.

CU’s Corey Bleaken Claims National Wrestling Title

Cumberland University’s Corey Bleaken claimed the school’s first individual wrestling national championship since 2005 with a 4-3 overtime victory Saturday over No. 3 Thomas Straughn of Notre Dame College at the 54th Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Saturday night.  Read more.

Alexander named TSWA College Coach of the Year

Cumberland University football coach Dewayne Alexander was named the College Football Coach of the Year by the Tennessee      Sportswriters Association (TSWA) this week after helping the Bulldogs to an 8-3 record in 2010.  Read more here.
